What is a Settlement Support Coordinator?
Settlement Support Coordinators are located in different areas throughout the country to ensure migrants and refugees know where to go to get local information and support that will help them settle in Aotearoa/New Zealand. Migrants and refugees will be helped to locate information in a variety of ways. These may include local websites, information brochures, a local phone number, or a face-to-face service provider - whatever works best in the local area, and whatever works best for the immigrant or refugee.

Settlement Support Palmerston North
Palmerston North’s Settlement Support Coordinator is Shelley Davenport. She is located at the Manawatu Ethnic Centre at 292A Church Street. You can drop in to the Centre and make an appointment to see her, ring or email her.

“I really enjoy meeting people and being able to help them. I like to know how things all ‘fit together’ to support people. Helping people to find information and contact people and agencies helps them live their lives more successfully and confidently. Let me help you enjoy your life in Aotearoa/New Zealand.”

Free Workshops
Free Workshops will be held regularly throughout the year - both for migrants and refugees, and for service providers.
Workshops for migrants and refugees will focus on orientation and particular areas of settlement needs - such as job search advice or understanding our tax system.
Workshops for service providers will focus on local settlement needs and information - sharing between organisations and individuals - skills that will strengthen their ability to work with people new to New Zealand.
Any suggestions for workshops are gratefully accepted.
